“浪漫生态学”何为

内容提要：生态批评是一种后现代批评。为了重塑绿色经典，生态批评家重新解读英美浪漫主义文学，从中发掘出“浪漫生态学”的蕴意。生态批评家强调，浪漫主义作家超越了古代有机论自然观，进一步认识到人与自然关系的整体性；其创作渗透着自觉的生态学意识，目的是对占据主流地位的机械论自然观进行文学抵抗。对浪漫生态学的推崇，清楚地反映出生态批评的后现代批评目标，那就是通过提倡绿色的文学创作和阅读，使其为后现代社会中的绿色文化建设发挥重要作用。

What is “Romantic Ecology” For: On the Post-modern Critical Aim of Ecocriticism

Abstract: Ecocriticism as a post-modern criticism constitutes for itself a mission of re-shaping green canon. Ecocritics reread British and American romantic literature, from which they discover the implication of “romantic ecology”. According to the ecocritics, those romanticists had ecological consciousness and thus transcended the ancient organic view on nature. Their writing had the purpose of resisting the prevalent mechanic view on nature. The advocacy of romantic ecology embodies the aim of ecocritical research. That is, to promote the green literature and green reading and to enable them to play an important role in constructing a green culture in the post-modern society.

在美英等国正在走向成熟的生态批评（ecocriticism）研究，一直呈现出典型的后现代批评特征。如果说不同形态的后现代批评都是从不同角度展开对现代性的批判，生态批评也不例外。那么，作为一种后现代批评，生态批评家究竟为自己设置了什么样的目标？生态批评如何把后现代文化建设的理想与文学研究结合起来？通过研究生态批评家所倡导的“浪漫生态学”之内涵，上述问题也许能够得到初步的解答。
生态批评发起之际，学者们为这项批评设立的基本任务之一，是重新审视文学史，完成对经典的“重塑”。生态批评的“重塑经典”，包括建立新的经典，也包括用新的视角来阐释已经成为经典的文学文本和文学流派。到目前为止，生态批评在此方面最为突出的成就，一是提升了自然写作（nature writing）在文学史上的地位，把从美国超验主义者梭罗开始到当代的一系列自然写作文本塑造为新的绿色经典。二是从生态批评的视角，对早已成为文学经典的英国浪漫主义诗歌进行新的阐释。而对这两种经典的重塑，都是围绕“浪漫生态学”这个核心进行的。
一 “浪漫生态学”的提出
“浪漫生态学”现已经成为生态批评家广为使用的术语。回顾英美学界的绿色研究，在文学批评学术圈之外，较早对英美浪漫主义思想冠以“浪漫生态学”之名的研究，是美国环境史学家沃斯特（Donald Worcester）在《自然的经济体系：生态思想史》（1977年）一书中进行的。此书影响很大，在上个世纪70年代、80年代和90年代三次再版。作者在此书所用的“浪漫生态学”，主要指的是美国超验主义作家梭罗的生态思想，兼及英国和德国浪漫派文学家的生态思想。沃斯特认为，浪漫主义与生态学最直接的联系在于浪漫派看待自然的方式，这种方式“基本上是生态学的，也就
